How I Read a Deal..

The value the metrics missed.

A healthtech startup screened well below the top of the stack on conventional signals. The story was in the data layer — where standard metrics don't look.

What the metrics said

Traction and growth numbers were unremarkable against the cohort. On a purely quantitative read, it was an easy pass — nothing in the topline demanded a second look.

What I saw

Their data-collection methodology was quietly unique — capturing a signal competitors structurally couldn't. That's not a growth stat; it's a defensible moat that compounds. I mapped how it would harden as they scaled.

Durable value rarely shows up first in the topline. My job is to find it before the numbers make it obvious.

Curated rooms, not crowded ones. That's where signal lives.
